INTERCAMBIO BOSTON 2016-17

"We visited the USA last year in 2016, it was one of the best experiences ever! First and foremost, we had to arrive; we caught two flights: the first one from Spain to London, the second one from London to the USA. The longest one was the last one, which was around eight hours.

The group of students from our highschool was formed by the students from two different levels. There was a group of 12 students from 4ºESO and another group of 10 students from 1ºBCH. The list of students that were going to travel to the USA was based on the criateria of students with the highest marks. There were two teachers that came with us: Lourdes and Jaime, both English teachers.

One of the best parts of the exchange, was obviously the flights! We had so much fun and we met eachother cause we didn’t know a thing about the students from the other course so we started talking. I really enjoyed  the group of friends I got from this exchange, I discovered that there were a lot of people that  I wouldn´t have met if I hadn’t done this exchange.

We filled in a questionary to choose our partner in the USA that was going to participate with us, so as they could know our hobbies, what we like or dislike… and you had to choose between a girl or a boy. I chose a girl and we started talking, but one day, she stopped talking to me so I asked my teacher what was happening; he told me that my partner had decided  to not do the exchange. I was shocked! I didn’t know what I was going to do. In the end, they found me another partner, this time it was a boy, but I enjoyed it! Now we are good friends and I think that I match much better with the boy (Sebastian) than with the girl that was supposed to come here.

When we arrived in the USA, all the families were waiting for us. After leaving the airport everybody  arrived at their “American houses” and as we had been flying since 11a.m, we were tired so we went to bed. We arrived at 8p.m in Boston (in Spain it was 2a.m)

The following day, we went to Burlington Highschool with our partners and the highschool was like the one that appeared in High School Musical: big corridors, 3 gyms, 2 libraries, 1 canteen and red lockers in every corridor, it was huge!! It has also got 2 band classes with all the instruments you could imagine.

My partner Sebastian played in the band, so I was the only student that had the honour to attend that class. I Boston, you can choose among a lot of subjects: you have the typical ones such as maths, biology, chemistry… but they also have band class, style class… Another thing that they have is the football team and various other: swim team, volleyball team, soccer team… I was really impressed!

During the two weeks that we were in the USA we visited the Boston Museum of Science, MIT, Hardvar, we walked all around Boston, our partners took us to a trampoline park, we went to Salem and we also spent the first weekend in NY.

NY was chaotic, a lot of people were walking in all directions, the cars were always honking at you, but I was impressed because the streets were very clean. In NY we walked throught Little Italy, China Town and we saw the Empire State Building.

From my point of view, the activity I enjoyed the most was going to the Boston Garden to watch the match between the Boston Celtics and Chicago Bulls. It was awesome! I will never forget that experience and in case I do, I’ve got a lot of photos to remind me of it.

I was very happy with my family, my partner and the group of Americans that were participating in the exchange. They took us to a lot of places and parties, they did a lot of activityes with us and in my case, my family took me to their village (Newhampsire) the last weekend.

To conclude, I would like to thank the teachers that came with us for all the efforts they’ve done to help us in each situation. I would also like to express my gratitude to the management team for all that they have done to give this big opportunity to their students; thank you so much."
